A case of the Mondays

A Monday night doubleheader?  And me with no sick days to use at work on Tuesday.

Ravens @ Bengals:  I could not be more excited for Chad Johnson to score against the Ravens.  Any time someone who nicknames himself promises crazy celebrations post-score, nobody loses.

Carson Palmer and the Bengals offense could cause problems against the Ravens.  Deltha O’Neal and the Bengals defense could cause problems for the Bengals offense.  If any team could make Baltimore’s passing game look good, it’s Cincinnati’s.

  • Baltimore 24, Cincinnati 23.

Arizona @ San Francisco:  I had the courage (ignorance) to pick the 49ers to finish 4-12, so in order to meet my lowered expectations, I almost have to pick them to lose this one.

Picking them to lose is stupid for so many reasons.

1. They are playing at home.

2. They are playing the Arizona Cardinals.

3. They are playing the Arizona Cardinals at home.

But then again, I can make a compelling case to choose against them, too.

1.  I’m a stubborn, self-promoting perfectionist whose pride gets in the way of making rational decisions.

  • Cardinals 34, 49ers 12

Can’t be right all the time… I actually read your SF preview and think you did a good job. I’m a Niners fan, too. You are the best writer on Bleacher Report, but I think your 4-12 is misguided – well, I hope it is. My team looked better on defense than I expected, but I am still let down by our offense. I want to believe that Alex is capable of becoming a truly great quarterback in the SF tradition of great quarterbacks. He is just so inconsistent…

I have to admit that I was kind of excited by Arizona’s touchdown in the 4th. It meant that Alex would have to throw – to be a play-maker. For that one drive I thought he played well.

I have coached for a long time. It feels great to see someone forced into a do-or-die situation and see them rise to the occasion. If San Francisco expects to win, they need to come out of the gate with this mentality. You have to play to win – from the first down.

Awesome! Ahahaha! Stop it, you’re killing me! Anyway, I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought this is great.

Forgive ME, but more about the subject, please!! You are going away from the topic too frequently, therefore it is uneasy to read your posts.
