About Me

You could say that Kevan Lee’s writing prowess began in high school, when his creativity sparked a revival of the school newspaper. You could argue that his greatness was born in the pages of his college weekly, where he regaled the student body with his original, clever take on sports.Or you could make the point that his must-read popularity doesn’t really exist because he takes too long getting to his point and isn’t that funny.

A fact that no one can deny, though, is that Kevan Lee writes for the love of writing (and the hope of some day getting paid a lot for it).

Growing up in Nampa, Idaho, his love of sports was evident at an early age.  He memorized playoff scores and team rosters and dreamed of scoring the winning touchdown and hitting the game-winning basket.  He was different from other kids; while they were having tea parties and socializing, he was playing imaginary football with his G.I. Joe’s.  Nothing a private school education couldn’t fix—or so his parents thought/hoped.

Kevan thrived in school thanks to his one year of homeschooling and street smarts.  Throughout elementary and high school, he remained at the top of his class in academics, athletics and most lunches that included Fruit by the Foot.  During his senior year, he started a school newspaper in which he was editor, writer, publisher and ombudsman.  It wasn’t until his sophomore year of college that he would know what ombudsman meant.  That same year of college, he began writing for Seattle Pacific University’s student newspaper the Falcon.  Given entirely too much editorial freedom, he quickly made a name for himself with articles that rambled and rambled until they made sense.  The student body loved it.

“I was like a god there—still am,” Kevan says.  “Sometimes it was hard to go to class because people would be staring at me, and I would be like, ‘Stop staring at me; don’t you know who I am?’  Of course, I knew they knew who I was.  Everyone did.  I just wanted to hear them say it.”

Wednesday was newspaper day, and students rushed to read his articles, right after they clipped the coupon for the neighborhood pizzeria.  Three years and scores of columns later, Kevan bid adieu to his readers and received his degree in journalism.

This website is his new muse.  Armed with a poor man’s knowledge of WordPress and his juvenile sense of humor, he has built this page from the ground up.  Where he goes next is anyone’s guess, but you can guarantee that he’ll keep on writing and occasionally making sense.
